One of my pet peaves is people pretending they are better than other people or judging other people based on their perceptions, (of course) not based on reality.
There are so many people now who have faith in God and call themselves Christians, but they are totally crappy people. Recently, some friends of mine and I were having a discussion about being nice to people who were not nice to us, and they continuously *refused* to entertain the idea ! Constantly returning to the argument that "I'm not going to show someone respect who does not show me respect," they argued they would never be nice to someone who was angry at them !
To give you more info, imagine someone who is not the smartest cookie, comes to you and is mad at you, and in conversing with that person, you find they seem to be mad at the world. They also yell at you. Me, I would still try to understand their problem and I have often found that 1 kind word or ear is usually enough for a lot of people to turn around and decide to talk sense.
Most people can judge your character when they meet you and know if you are being sincere.
